Em operação de busca em Guarujá, policial federal é atingido por disparo de arma de fogo.

In the morning of Tuesday (15), an agent of the Federal Police was shot in Guarujá, a city located in the coast of São Paulo state, Brazil. According to the corporation, the officer was carrying out a search and seizure warrant when he was hit by a bullet. He was immediately taken to a local hospital for treatment.
The Federal Police also reported that two suspects were arrested at the scene. Along with them, a submachine gun, a pistol, money, and drugs were seized. The suspects will be taken to the Federal Police Station in Santos, where they will face charges of attempted murder, drug trafficking, and illegal possession of firearms.
However, the details of the operation being conducted by the Federal Police in Guarujá will only be disclosed after its conclusion, stated the corporation.
Guarujá has been experiencing an escalation of violence since July 27, following the assassination of soldier Patrick Bastos Reis from the Rota (Tobias de Aguiar Ostensive Rounds) police unit, who was shot during a patrol. This incident triggered the Operation Shield initiated by the government of Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), which resulted in the death of 16 individuals.
Three men have become defendants in connection with the soldier’s murder.
The objective of Operation Shield, according to the government, is to suffocate drug trafficking and dismantle organized crime in the Santos region. However, according to a document from the Public Defender’s Office, out of the total number of cases accessed by the agency’s Prison Situation Unit, 78 arrests were made for alleged non-violent or serious crimes, representing more than 72% of the cases.
Among the arrested individuals for these alleged non-violent crimes are those accused of thefts of bicycles, electrical wire, three perfume bottles, a palette of eyeshadows, two T-shirts valued at R$ 40 each, two creams valued at R$ 51.99 each, as well as a gutter and a radio found in an abandoned vehicle.
There are also cases of people arrested for thefts whose cases have already been archived.
“This is a preliminary analysis that will be supplemented and deepened based on further data that has been sought daily by the Public Defender’s Office of São Paulo,” says the agency in the document.
Through his social media accounts, on Wednesday (9), Secretary of Public Security Guilherme Derrite announced that 313 individuals were arrested during the operation, with 113 of them being wanted by the justice system, and 15 adolescents apprehended. The Secretary also stated that the police confiscated 44 weapons and 790 kilograms of drugs.
The situation in Guarujá remains tense, and the Federal Police continue to carry out their operations to combat organized crime and drug trafficking in the area. Further updates on these operations are expected in the near future.
